Paul Anka Biography, Albums, Songs, & Facts
In 1964, he released an album titled Paul Anka à Paris; the six tracks on side B were sung in French. With less success than in Italy and Finland, Anka tried the French market as well, with his first song being „Comme Avant“ with Mireille Mathieu. At the end of the film there is an archive footage of Anka’s performance in Linnanmäki. He also appeared in the Las Vegas scene in the 1991 Finnish film Prince of the Hit Parade (Iskelmäprinssi), directed by Juha Tapaninen. His top hit was „Ogni giorno“ which scored No. 1 in 1962, followed by „Piangerò per te“ and „Ogni volta“, which reached both No. 2, in 1963 and 1964. His album Songs of December charted at No. 58 in Canada in November 2011.
He had a hit in 1983 with “Hold Me ’Til the Mornin’ Comes,” a duet with Peter Cetera. In 1974 Anka again found success as a performer with a duet performed with Odia Coates, “(You’re) Having My Baby,” which proved controversial with both sides of the abortion debate. He performed on the nightclub circuit—at the Copacabana in New York, the Sands in Las Vegas, and the Coconut Grove in Los Angeles.

And doesn’t plan to stop anytime soon. It is a priority for CBC to create products that are accessible to all in Canada including people with visual, hearing, motor and cognitive challenges. Maybe The Longest Day came in the same arena, but nothing like My Way, that I knew my life was going to change.” That day, Anka was moved to tears because he recognized that something had changed. I hear My Way over the phone for the first time while I’m sitting in New York City, crying. The very next day, he was in Sinatra’s dressing room in Las Vegas singing it for him.

Anka is unfailingly humble and appreciative of his sustained success – a new album, „Inspirations of Life and Love,“ drops Feb. 13, a round of U.S. dates kicks off Jan. 2 and a Broadway musical is in the works – but he’s also lived a life conducive to longevity. To this day, at age 84, Anka is still touring and still singing the song, including a recent performance of My Way on Jimmy Kimmel Live! At that time, the Canadian singer-songwriter was spending most of his vacation time in the south of France with his new wife, Anne. But of all the songs he’s known for, it’s the one he wrote for Ol‘ Blue Eyes that still gets people a little misty. On the wall of his home outside Los Angeles there are more gold records than you can count – not just for his own songs, but the ones he wrote for others.
